A blank slate for designing, our interior designer client requested that this smaller, linear shaped backyard be transformed to accommodate a pool, spa and lawn space for their dog. Our design utilized various levels of entertainment spaces, offering unlimited views of the spa and fountain wall from multiple interior vantage points. A generous side yard also provided sight lines of the fountain wall from the kitchen and living space for reading the paper over morning coffee or early evening entertaining with friends. To make the transition seamless, we also changed a window into a sliding glass door that steps onto a cedar deck. The pool is highlighted by a water feature with custom bronze scuppers that flow into both the pool and custom-tiled fountain. A 3-foot wide limestone coping links two cedar decks along the water’s edge. On the opposite end of the pool, a slightly raised deck backed by blue cypress features an arbor and fire table creating a cozy, private gathering space.
