Our London transplants requested an orderly English-style garden with lots of color and texture that was still sustainable in the harsh Texas climate. We planted drought-tolerant agave, tree form holly, sycamore trees, Chinese fringe tree, catmint, hydrangea, salvia, and star jasmine. The project also included a pool featuring a textured ceramic tile fountain wall with penny-round ceramic waterline tile, surrounded by limestone paving. A large cantilever parasol adds dimensional design and reprieve from the summer sun. A barbecue area is in a side garden, nestled into a trellised ivy wall against the home, thoughtfully placed, convenient to the back entrance.
